This series of ten 2 1/2 hour classes prepare a mother and her support person for the goal of natural childbirth.
Natural Childbirth Series
Starts Tuesday, April 24 for 10 weeks
6:30 – 9:00 pm
As instructors, we believe in the natural childbirth principles taught us by Dr. Robert A. Bradley in his classic book, “Husband Coached Childbirth”, Dr, Michael Odent, Ina May Gaskin (midwife), Drs. Kennel and Klaus and many other birth professionals.
Included in the series is support and instruction for the active participation of mom and her partner as support, good nutrition for the healthiest pregnancy possible, relaxation and natural breathing as pain management tools, breastfeeding as ideal infant nutrition and good communication with your healthcare providers. A comprehensive workbook is provided for each couple and classes are small to insure individual attention.
Please register to begin classes by your 6th month. The Natural Childbirth Series should be scheduled to begin from 16-24 weeks of pregnancy. If the class is taken early, couples are welcome to return to the next series for no additional charge as a refresher until the baby is born. The St. Francis Wellness Center Moms in Motion program emphasizes a safe and personalized approach to pregnancy and recovery. Your exercise specialist will meet with you two to three times per week to provide you with a program designed at the appropriate intensity level for your pregnancy. You will also receive education on nutrition during your pregnancy from a St. Francis registered dietician. The exercise specialists and registered nurses at the Wellness Center will provide appropriate encouragement and advice throughout your program.
