Come ride the beautiful trails of Harris County at Begin Again Farms, Inc. Equine Shelter’s  Trail Ride and Poker Run

Come enjoy an evening with family and friends, have some BBQ, sit by the bonfire and don’t forget the marshmallows.

Kids and Non- riders welcome to come enjoy the festivities.

Proceeds benefit the care and rehabilitation of abused and needy horses.

Trails will open at 3pm and close at 8pm.

Where: 2035 Harris Rd., Ellerslie

Info & Cost: Cost for trail ride is $25.00 and includes a BBQ Plate. Extra plates and plates for non- riders can be purchased for $5.00, drink included.

Poker Run: Hands for the Poker Run can be purchased for $10.00 for 2 hands or $20.00 for 5 hands. Winning hand receives half the pot. 50/50 Raffle

Don’t ride? Come spend the day with us, tour the farm and meet all of our beautiful equine and non-equine friends – some who are looking for their forever homes or someone to sponsor them during their stay with us! No cost to just come and visit!
Note: Begin Again Farms does not supply horses.  If you are riding you must bring your own horse. Proof of negative coggins is required for all horses that enter the property.

Riding Through History at FDR State Park

Travel back in time on a slow-paced, guided horseback ride through F.D. Roosevelt State Park.

Saturday, June 19, 2010 @ 10:00 a.m.

You will visit the same valley that hunters and trappers considered the frontier and view the CCC Boys’ structures that are now left at monuments of hard times. Come find out why FDR called this “his Georgia.” Reservations are required.

Ages 10 and over. Kids must have an adult with them. Rides last about 1.25 hours.

Cost: $45 plus $5 parking

Location: Roosevelt Stables, 2970 Ga. Highway 190, Pine Mountain. (The stables are located just off I-185 near Callaway Gardens, west of Warm Springs on Ga. Route 190, or south of Pine Mountain off U.S. Hwy. 27.)

April 17-18, 2010

The object of dressage is the harmonious development of the physique and ability of the horse. As a result it makes the horse calm, supple, loose and flexible, but also confident, attentive and keen, thus achieving perfect understanding with his rider.

The public is welcome to attend; however, children must be accompanied by an adult.

Poplar Place Farm is 188-acre equestrian facility located approximately 15 miles north of Lowes on Georgia Highway 27 near Pine Mountain.

Horse Trials at Poplar Place Farm

Poplar Place Farm is hosting its March Horse Trails.

March 19-21, 2010

Over 320 horses are registered to participate in the following USEA/USEF recognized events:

  • Dressage
  • Show Jumping
  • Cross Country

The public is welcome to attend; however, children must be accompanied by an adult. Concessions and restrooms will be available — open early for breakfast. Dogs are welcome, but MUST be leashed during competition. If caught loose, $25 fine.
