Pastoral Institute presents Social Skills Groups for Children & Adolescents
Experienced therapists teach and help kids to learn practical social skills and help build friendships in a fun and relaxed format.
Individual consultation available to parents as needed.
Classes run for 6 weeks starting January 24th
Ages 5-8
Tuesdays 3:45-4:30
Focus will be on basic social skills, such as manners, listening, and following directions; appropriate behavior in stressful situations, including waiting, transitions, birthday parties; and recognizing and expressing emotion.
A Focus on Bullying
Ages 9-13
Tuesdays 4:45-5:30
Focus will be on confidence and bullying prevention skills, such as self-advocacy, dealing with peer pressure, choosing friends, building personal strengths, and tips on how to handle being bullied.
Behavior Management
Ages 9-13
Thursdays 3:45-4:30
The main focus for each member of this group will be to discuss, model, and role play the right choice social skills using the “Stop and Think” and “You are Responsible for your Choices” theme. Our behavior management course will introduce and discuss topics such as conflict resolution, social skills, anger management, character education, parenting, and violence prevention.
How to Sign Up:
- For new clients: Clients, who are new to Pastoral Institute, should schedule a screening appointment before having their child join the group. Please call our office at 706-649-6500, ext. 1361 for your screening appointment with Dr. Sims.
