Social Skills Groups at the Pastoral Institute

Pastoral Institute presents Social Skills Groups for Children & Adolescents
Experienced therapists teach and help kids to learn practical social skills and help build friendships in a fun and relaxed format. Individual consultation available to parents as needed.
Registration deadline is May 15th.
Classes run for 6 weeks starting May 22nd and end June 28th
Advanced Social Skills
Ages 5-7 Tuesdays 3:45-4:30
Focus will be on more advanced social skills, such as manners, listening, and following directions; appropriate behavior in stressful situations, including waiting, transitions, birthday parties; and recognizing and expressing emotion.
Friendship and Handling Bullies
Ages 8-13 Tuesday 4:45- 5:30
Focus will be on confidence and bullying prevention skills, such as self-advocacy, dealing with peer pressure, choosing friends, building personal strengths, and tips on how to handle being bullied.
Behavior Management
Ages 8-13 Thursday 3:45- 4:30
The main focus for each member of this group will be to discuss, model, and role play the right choice social skills using the “Stop and Think” and “You are Responsible for your Choices” theme. Our behavior management course will introduce and discuss topics such as conflict resolution, social skills, anger management, character education, parenting, and violence prevention.
Creative Thinking
Ages 8-13 Thursdays 4:45- 5:30
The creative thinking group will teach children to learn creative problem-solving methods while having fun in the process. Students learn how to identify challenges and to think creatively to solve problems. Participants will develop team-building skills by working in groups. They will learn to examine problems and to identify the real challenge without limiting the possible solutions and their potential success. Children of all types will find something that will appeal to them giving them a fun, creative way to start solving problems.

We will skip the week of April 2nd for Spring break
