2010 Country’s Midnight Express

The last week in August is an extremely exciting week in Columbus, Georgia
because August 28th will mark the 30th Annual Midnight run.

Over 2000 runners, thousands of spectators, and bunches of sponsors gather each year for this event to support the visually impaired. While the 5K race is run at midnight, the festivities begin way before dark. The local motorcycle community will crank up the activities with a charity poker run that begins and ends at Country’s on Mercury Drive.

SIMULCAST & RUN IN IRAQ
Join the 3rd Brigade via Simulcast/Video to begin the race. It may not be midnight in Iraq, but it’s always nice to keep in touch with our friends.

Various Awards Divisions to include male/female, by age category, wheelchair, and visually impaired.

Saturday, August 28, 5:00 p.m. Poker Run starting at Mercury Drive

7:00 p.m. Bands begin performing

8:00 p.m. Car show presented by PTAP

Dr. Cooper’s 2nd Annual Run for Their Lives 5K, 1-Mile Fun Run and Family Fun Day!

8 a.m.

All proceeds will benefit the Russell County Child Advocacy Center, a neutral, child friendly facility for abused children to meet with professionals who are responsible for and dedicated to investigating and easing the trauma of abuse.

The purpose of the RCCAC is to coordinate forensic interviews of child abuse victims, promote a multidisciplinary team approach to child abuse investigations, and provide quality counseling, advocacy, referral and support services to child abuse victims, adult survivors, and their families at no cost.

Friends of Libraries Book Sale

When: Saturday, July 24th from 10am – 5pm

Where: Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road.
