Everyone is invited to celebrate the grand opening of the new Youth Recreation Complex on Fort Benning.

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
There will be a soccer parade, hot air balloon rides, Frisbee dog show, Inflatables and give-aways.
The new Youth Recreation Complex is located on the Blue and French Fields off Zuckerman Ave. and 1st Division Rd. near the Fort Benning Golf Course.

Join Wildlife biologist and bird enthusiast Joe LaFleur on a guided bird walk at Roosevelt Little White House Historic Site in Warm Springs, GA.

You’ll practice hands-on bird identification in the surrounding woodland habitat. Beginners are welcome. After the walk, audiovisual program on birds of our area will be presented at Mustian Place. This program will help you identify birds by sight and sound and will also review-preferred habitats where each species is likely to be encountered.
Cost: $5-$8 plus.

Thunder in the Valley Air Show

The 13th Annual Thunder in the Valley Air Show is coming!
March 20-21, 2010
Bring your family to the Columbus Metropolitan Airport (CSG) in Columbus to see modern U.S. Military and civilian aircraft, vintage WWII aircraft and US Army Infantry vehicles and weapons displays.
Top civilian pilots will thrill you with their heart stopping aerobatic routines. Events include the children’s carnival, airplane and helicopter rides, souvenirs, food and more!
Time: Gates open at 10:00 a.m. Pre-show from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Show from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Tickets: $8 in advance and $10 at the gate. Children under 6 are FREE. Military discounts are available.

Columbus Arbor Day 2010

Join Keep Columbus Beautiful for a special Arbor Day Celebration at Lakebottom park!

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
A proclamation will be presented by Mayor Jim Wetherinton with special music provided by the Dimon Elementary School “Green Team” Litter Patrol.
There will be lots of fun hands-on activities, wildlife animals from Oxbow Meadows, bucket truck rides, a tree walk, interactive nature activities, and many environmental exhibits. Country’s Barbecue will be on-site selling lunch for $5!
The event is free and open to the public.
