Alabama’s Annual Sales Tax Holiday
August 6-8, 2010
Beginning at 12:01 a.m. (CST) on Friday August 6, 2010, and ending at twelve midnight on Sunday August 8, 2010, Alabama will hold its fifth annual sales tax holiday giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing free of state sales or use tax. Local sales and use tax may apply – see list of participating cities and counties.
Retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on items that are legally tax-exempt during the Sales Tax Holiday.
Please note: 2010 Georgia Sales Tax Holiday
The Georgia General Assembly did not renew legislation allowing for any sales tax holidays during 2010. As a result, the previously held sales tax holidays for school supplies, energy efficient products, and water efficient products will not take place in 2010.

Ft Benning’s Post-wide Yard Sale
Bargain shoppers, heads up! You are invited to Fort Benning’s Post-wide Yard Sale.
May 15, 2010, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The sale will be conducted across all of the posts housing areas, to include Custer Terrace, Bouton Heights, Davis Hill and Lavoie Manor. Buyers are encouraged to park in a high sale-density area and walk the short distances from sale to sale. The Postwide Yard Sale is conducted twice a year. Selling is restricted to post residents, but buying is open to all.
How to Access Post: Buyers will be able to access the post via I-185 and Benning Blvd. Access to the installation is still controlled through vehicle checkpoints. Drivers of vehicles without military stickers must stop at the visitors center on I-185 or Benning Blvd. to get a temporary pass.
All vehicles will be stopped and drivers should be prepared to show their vehicle registration and proof of insurance. Adult passengers in the vehicle may also be asked to present identification.
