Columbus, Ga. – To kick off the 2017 Columbus, GA Whitewater Season, Uptown Columbus is hosting RiverFest Weekend May 5th and 6th. The entire community is invited to participate in weekend-long events in Woodruff Park and along the RiverWalk in Uptown Columbus Friday, May 5th from 6 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 6th from 9 a.m. – until.; admission is FREE both days.
Starting Friday, May 5th at 7 p.m., the Uptown Concert Series kicks off RiverFest Weekend with live music by Peggy Jenkins & The Bizzness on the main stage at Woodruff Park and concludes with The Journey Tribute Band: Departure. The celebration continues Saturday, May 6th at 10 a.m. as the Boy Scout Expo invades Woodruff Park with fun for all ages, featuring geocaching activities, Tomahawk throwing contest, outdoor cook-off, archery activities and more. Live music continues on the main stage at 5 p.m. with The Breakdowns: Tom Petty Tribute Band, D.S.O.S. hits the stage at 7 p.m. and Sons of Sailors, Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band is at 9 p.m.
Upstream will be just as lively with an array of river activities such as SUP (stand up paddling), Paddle with the Pyranha Kayak Pros, and, of course, rafting and zip lining with Whitewater Express.
A destination for food lovers, the Dillingham Street Bridge will host food trucks and local eateries. Shopaholics will have the opportunity to shop local artisans on Dillingham Street at CSU. Live music continues starting at 5:30 pm on the main stage at Woodruff Park featuring Peggy Jenkins and the Bizness, D.S.O.S, and the Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band – Sons of the Sailors.
