After a month off in January, the MUTD series will pick up again in the New Year with a performance entitled Imaginative Images.
On it we will present a series of remarkable works by an eclectic mix of composers from around the world, starting with American original George Antheil’s Sonata for Solo Trumpet, performed by Icelandic graduate student Rosborg Hallisdottir. Next will be Minnesotan violinist Elena Kolkrek playing Henri Vieuxtemps, virtuosic Rondino. This will be followed by Schwob faculty member, Dr. Lisa Oberlander, who will play Evan Ziporyn’s Three Impersonations for Clarinet, a fantastic piece that adapts famous melodies from a variety of cultures, and to make the sound requires extended techniques that are completely inventive.
The program will conclude with Chinese graduate student Jiaqui Song performing Debussy’s magical Images, Book 2. All visual designs for this program are being created by CSU Art Department’s new assistant professor of Graphic Design, Samantha Yoo.
Reception at 5pm with wine and cheese, and 45-minute concert at 5:37pm!
