Fort Benning Hosts Oktoberfest at Uchee Creek Campground & Marina

Oktoberfest, Fort Benning’s favorite fall tradition and the most authentic Oktoberfest in the area returns to Uchee Creek Campground & Marina from Friday, October 21 through Sunday, October 23! Celebrate Oktoberfest traditions and German culture with us. Fort Benning’s annual Oktoberfest is a three-day event that features endless family-friendly fun, free live entertainment, children’s activities and the best variety of authentic German food, music and brews.

 

Put on your finest dirndl or lederhosen, pack up the family and the dogs and enjoy our BIERGARTEN (beer garden)! Live entertainment all weekend long includes Sonnenschein Express, the Queen of Oktoberfest, and the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band. We suggest practicing your best chicken dance!

 

Our KINDER WIESN (children’s area) will provide fun activities all weekend long, including inflatables, a petting zoo, pony rides, drum circle, pumpkin patch, quad jump, games, arts and crafts, carnival rides and so much more! That’s not all, the Queen of Oktoberfest will also have special performances for the kids.

 

New this year is our SPORTHEIM (sports lounge)! Don’t worry about missing your favorite teams play because we will turn the Uchee Creek Activity Center into a real German Sportheim. While you eat your Bratwurst and enjoy a cold German beer, watch college football and NFL games all weekend long!

 

Like in Munich, the keg tapping ceremony officially kicks off Oktoberfest on Friday at 6 p.m. While the MCoE Band plays the national anthems of both the United States of America and Germany, the keg is tapped! Once you hear “O’Zapft is” (it’s tapped), the festivities begin!

 

On Saturday, the day begins with our annual 5K Dirndl Dash and 10K Lederhosen Leap races, as well as our famous Volksmarch. Dog contests will be held in the afternoon, adult games like keg tossing, stein relays, beer pong and, of course, our annual Stein Hoisting and Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest competitions in the evening.

 

On Sunday, in old German tradition, we host the annual Crossroads church service. Join us at 11 a.m. in our Biergarten for our non-denominational church service while enjoying a schnitzel, bratwurst or whatever the heart desires.
