November 11, 2009
“Members of the military and their families sacrifice so much for the rest of us, and this is a small way of saying thank you to all of them,” said Bruce Smith, Executive Director. “As a museum dedicated to preserving part of our military history and the stories of the sailors and marines who made it, we want to honor our military, past and present, whenever we can.”
Port Columbus features original Civil War vessels, immersive recreated ship environments and a wide range of uniforms, weapons, equipment and other artifacts from both the Union and Confederate Navies. The Museum hosts various activities and living history events throughout the year.
November 27 and 28, Port Columbus will offer Cool History: The Dramatic Capture of the USS Water Witch, a living history event telling the most well-known story surrounding the USS Water Witch, newly recreated in full-scale on Museum grounds.
