About us: Supporting Area Families 24/7 since 2008
In September 2008, Charlotte Bowman, a freelance writer and work at home mom with a 5-year old and a 2-year old, realized that there wasn’t a central online resource in Columbus, GA, where parents could access information about local events and resources specifically for families.
So she launched a blog called Muscogee Moms®… targeted moms with young children (infants to age 14)… added a list of upcoming events… and told a handful of her friends.
The rest is history!
Muscogee Moms is now an extensive online resource and events calendar for families with kids of ALL ages! We cover events within the Columbus Metro Area — up to a 50-mile radius.
Our social media and mobile networks (including our website, Facebook page, Twitter, Pinterest page, weekly e-newsletter, and mobile/SMS database) reach thousands of parents across all socio-economic levels and offer a broad range of information that is useful for anyone working with children.
In September 2011, we launched a sister website in Troup County – LagrangeMoms.com. The new site is similar in appearance and functionality as our main website, but provides details about family-friendly events and resources in Lagrange, Hogansville, West Point and the surrounding communities.
Today, Muscogee Moms offers the local business community a targeted way to reach busy area families who are online 24/7. These local businesses can showcase their products and services in our Business Directory and via banner ads on our website.
As we grow, our goals remain the same–to keep parents up-to-date on family-friendly community activities and to connect them with the wonderful family resources available in the Chattahoochee Valley.
Meet our Staff
Charlotte Bowman is the Owner and Editor of Muscogee Moms. She is the proud mother of two boys ages 9 and 6. She is a long-time resident of Columbus. Prior to becoming a mother, she earned a B.A in English from Auburn University and worked for many years as a technical communicator in the financial industry. A former Freelance Writer, Charlotte wrote for various local magazines and was a monthly columnist for her magazine. She manages all operations of Muscogee Moms. From sponsorship sales, to event coordination, marketing and editorial, Charlotte keeps Muscogee Moms on the go.
Stephanie D. Litz is a Contributing Writer for Muscogee Moms and Admin for our Facebook page. She writes and posts articles on the website. A work-at-home mom to her 9-and 7-year old daughters, Stephanie teaches history, geography, and humanities courses online for various colleges and universities.
Sara Davenport is a Contributing Writer for Muscogee Moms and Admin for our Facebook page. She writes and posts articles on the website and keeps our Pinterests boards up to date. Sara currently works part-time at Columbus State University in their Servant Leadership program. She has a 2-year old daughter and an infant daughter.
Katie Fields-Damke serves as an Advertising Sales Executive for Muscogee Moms and Admin for our Facebook page. She has a 4-year old son.
Logan Hurst serves as a part-time Advertising Sales Executive for Muscogee Moms. He and his beautiful wife Elizabeth were married this past April 2012.
Laura Erickson serves as Editor of our sister site Lagrange Moms®. She manages all operations of LaGrange Mom. From sponsorship sales, to event coordination, marketing and editorial, Laura keeps LaGrange Moms on the go. She is the mother of two girls.
Tiffany Watson serves as Virtual Assistant for both Muscogee Moms and LaGrange Moms. She performs many “behind the scenes roles such as maintaining our weekly E-Newsletter and helping keep our website updated. She has four children, one boy and three girls.
