Camp is for ages 5-12 years old (5-year olds MUST have completed Kindergarten). Participants will learn climbing and parkour techniques, terminology, culture and a bit of history about each sport.
Children should wear comfortable workout clothing (*long shorts and t-shirts for boys, long shorts or legging is and t-shirts for girls) and tennis shoes, and should bring a water bottle, healthy sack lunch and a few snacks each day.

Summer Camp is available to children in the Columbus area, ages 5 – 12. Drop off begins at 7:30 am each morning and ends at 6:00 pm each evening. 50 spots available.
United Cheerleading has partnered with Whitewater Express to create the Ultimate Summer Camp experience! Girls Wilderness Summer Camp – for girls ages 8-12 years.
Come learn the joys of wilderness adventure, surrounded by nature, friends and experienced staff. You will enjoy hiking, camping, survival skills, crafts, campfires and more!
Cost: $300 per camper and includes:
Round Trip transportation from Columbus, 3 full days of fun and learning outdoor skills, overnight camping trip (basic camping equipment is included) meals and a camp t-shirt!
Monday, June 10th will be an all-day trip at FDR State Park. Campers can be dropped off between 8:00 am and 8:30 am at the Spencer Environmental Center, located downtown Columbus. From there we will be loading the Basecamp Bus and head up to FDR State Park for a full day of learning and fun. Campers will return back to the Spencer Environmental Center for pick up at 5:00 – 5:30 pm.
Tuesday, June 11th we will be headed back to FDR State Park for our overnight trip. Campers can be dropped off at the Spencer Environmental Center at 8:00 am – 8:30 am where we will load up our overnight bags onto the basecamp bus and head up to our campsite. During the day the girls will learn the basics of camping, building survival shelters, outdoor cooking, fire safety and more! We will enjoy dinner and s’mores around the campfire and sleep in tents under the stars.
Wednesday, June 12th we will be making breakfast at the campsite, and enjoy the beautiful wilderness before packing up camp and heading home. Campers will return back to the Spencer Environmental Center at 5:00 pm for pick up.
Post registration: parents and campers will receive a full packet with detailed information, t-shirt size selection, and meal choices.
Lead Staff has over 25 years of wilderness experience, is a certified Wilderness First Responder, Adult and Child CPR and AED Certified, American Canoe Association L4 Whitewater Instructor and L4 Swift Water Rescue Certified.
Located on beautiful Lake Wylie, S.C., our 100-acre camp is 20 minutes south of Charlotte, N.C., and is easily accessible from all directions. Since 1936 Camp Thunderbird has provided thousands of kids an unforgettable experience that includes adventure, fun, and friendship! Camp Thunderbird has nationally recognized water programs, including wakeboarding, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, water slides and “the Blob”. We offer 28 land activities including horseback riding, skating, high and low ropes courses, sports, and crafts.
Our resident camp provides boys and girls an exciting, safe experience that they will remember for a lifetime. Additionally, our Day Camp offers much of the same activities, programs and relationship building opportunities. It’s a great program to consider as an option for your child!
Summer Camp at the D.A. Turner YMCA is for boys and girls ages 5-15 years old (Must meet age requirements by the first day of camp). Day camp activities include: Youth sports, basketball, kickball, skating, arts and crafts, exploring science and technology, swimming, participating in field trips, exploring nature, learning about our many cultures and making new friends and memories. Summer learning, including literacy activities, is also part of the Y summer experience.
A.J. McClung YMCA Summer Camp
Summer Camp at the A.J. McClung YMCA is for boys and girls ages 5-14 years old! Day camp activities include: field trips, movies, nature walks, swimming, skating, bowling, arts & crafts, board games, table games, computer games, youth sports, basketball, softball, volleyball, kickball, academic success, museum & library visits, reading & story time and more.
John P. Thayer YMCA Summer Camp
Summer Camp at the John P Thayer YMCA is for boys and girls ages 6-9 years old (Must meet age requirements by the first day of camp). Day Camp activities includes swimming, arts & crafts, movies, educational time, board games, group games, reading & story time, guest speakers, ice cream visits, climbing wall, field trips, and more.
